Grace Mbungu

Grace Mbungu is a Senior Fellow and Head of Climate Change Program at APRI. She holds a BA in Political Science and Gender Studies as well as a Master's in Public Administration (MPA) with a focus on human rights and international development from Bowling Green State University, Ohio, USA. She holds a PhD from the University of Stuttgart, Germany.

Before joining APRI, Grace was a research associate at the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) in Potsdam, Germany where she worked on topics such as the politics and governance of the global Energy transition and social performance and opportunities of renewable energy development with the focus on the Global South. She was also part of the coordination team of the IASS 2022 Focal Topic “Justice in Sustainability”.

She has worked, researched, and published on issues including pathways to just and sustained energy, climate change, justice and sustainability, just energy transitions, gender justice, societal engagement in research and development in Africa, Europe, and the USA.
