Background

The evolving geopolitical landscape is enabling African governments to diversify their international partnerships. The global push for green energy transition presents new opportunities to advance Africa’s industrialisation and economic transformation. At the same time, the growing number of Africa+1 summits highlights the continent’s rising diplomatic and economic significance on the global stage. This shift, marked by the increasing influence of new diplomatic actors, is reshaping the international order and shifting global power balances.

The Event

APRI, the Deutsche Afrika Stiftung (DAS), and the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in Berlin are organizing an invite-only hybrid roundtable on Mapping diplomatic summits and African Foreign policies in the global landscape.

  • Marks the official launch of APRI’s interactive mapping on Africa+1 Summits, developed with the support of Stiftung Mercator

The event features welcome remarks from Willie van der Westhuizen, Counsellor Political, Embassy of the Republic of South Africa and Dr. Olumide Abimbola, Executive Director, Africa Policy Research Institute.
