Unlocking Agritech Potential: Dialogue with Young Farmers and Green Entrepreneurs in Ghana

Join us for the Unlocking Agritech Potential: Dialogue with Young Farmers and Green Entrepreneurs in Ghana event

 Dec 19, 2024 - 10:00 - 13:10 GMT  Physical  SYND Offices
Background

Africa is the youngest continent in the world, with a median age of only 18.6 years. Despite this demographic advantage, one-third of working-age teenagers are unemployed, making youth unemployment a serious problem. Utilising green technologies, especially Agritech, is becoming more and more recognised as a practical way to solve youth unemployment and the effects of climate change in Ghana, where 35% of the population is under 24 years old. By increasing production, lowering environmental impacts, and generating jobs for young farmers and entrepreneurs, Agritech has the potential to revolutionise the local agricultural industry. Nonetheless, there are still unanswered questions regarding how exactly young people view and comprehend the prospects presented by the sector. The goal of this discussion event is to help close that gap and provide a workable path forward.

The Event

To address these issues, APRI and SYND will organise a workshop to serve as a dialogue platform for 30 young farmers and green entrepreneurs to share their perceptions and understanding of Agritech in Ghana, and explore the potential of Agritech for sustainable farming and job creation. The event will also seek to identify opportunities and challenges in adopting Agritech solutions, and to facilitate a discussion on actionable steps for leveraging Agritech to enhance entrepreneurship and innovation in Ghana’s agricultural sector. Participants will not only gain an understanding of Agritech’s potential to revolutionise agriculture and support green entrepreneurship across Ghana, but also gain access to a network of young innovators committed to driving sustainable agricultural practices in the country. We will also strive to equip participants with insights to harnessing Agritech for scaling their ventures, and to contribute to broader national efforts to reduce both youth unemployment and agricultural instability in Ghana.
