Olumide Damilola Onitekun

Olumide serves as a Research Lead and Policy Analyst under the Africa Policy Research Institute (APRI) Climate Change program, contributing to multiple initiatives, including accelerating Nigeria’s energy transition through a country platform, methane mitigation and reduction in the oil and gas sector, and mainstreaming climate actions into Nigeria’s development plan. With over five years of cross-sectoral experience, he is a skilled research economist and public policy expert.

He has a proven track record in leading research teams, providing technical support, and delivering actionable policy advice to senior figures in both public and private sectors. His distinctive research capabilities have shaped numerous academic and industry publications.

Olumide has co-authored academic papers on critical subjects such as human capital, investment, and trade policy. In industry research, he has made significant contributions to developing advocacy papers related to climate mitigation and adaptation in Nigeria, formulating a climate financing strategy for infrastructure development, and designing Nigeria's national development plan for 2021-2025.

Olumide’s key strengths are in economic research; policy and strategy formulation; proposal development; and project and programme design, management, and implementation.
