Emmanuel Baba Aduku

Emmanuel is a public policy and international development professional with cross-continental experience in Africa and Europe and a diverse background in governance, program and project management and international cooperation. Emmanuel is Project Coordinator in the Geopolitics and Geoeconomics Programme at the Africa Policy Research Institute (APRI), where he supports the execution of program strategy, and manages the programme finance and administration.

Previously, he was a Public Policy New Voices Europe Fellow with the Salzburg Global Seminar, where he collaborated with other experts to develop innovative policy responses addressing inequality and justice. His role as a Consulting Assistant with Adelphi Consulting also showcased his analytical acumen, as he identified cost-effective critical mineral supply chain options for Germany, saving the client substantial procurement costs and reducing supply chain disruptions. Additionally, he has held policy advisory roles in Nigeria, supporting initiatives with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and has experience working with the Nigerian National Assembly.

Emmanuel’s academic foundation includes a Master of Public Policy from the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy, University of Erfurt, where he graduated with honors, a Master of Science in Sociology with a specialization in Development from the University of Ibadan, and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Ahmadu Bello University. His contributions to public policy are further evidenced by publications in scholarly and popular outlets. A Helmut Schmidt Scholar and recipient of the prestigious Dietmar Herz Award, Emmanuel is a recipient of numerous fellowships such as the Frederic Bastiat and Don Lavoie Fellowships in Political Economy from the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, the Mandela-Washington Fellowship (MWF), and the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI-RLC) Fellowship.

His volunteer engagements with organizations such as the Community Engagement for Development Initiative (CEDI) in Nigeria and the European Youth Education and Meeting Center (EJBW) in Germany further illustrate his commitment to civic engagement and social development.
