Improving energy efficiency is key to achieving the international goals of climate neutrality and a sustainable future. Improvements can be made in building design, community design, energy generation/distribution, vehicles/transportation and human behaviour, including lifestyle changes. Greater energy efficiency brings about cost savings, better electrical resilience/reliability and provides environment, community and health benefits. To meet the commitments outlined in the Paris Agreement, many countries have recently pledged to double global energy efficiency rates to meet the goal of tripling the world’s renewable energy capacity by 2030.
