"'Climate justice' is a term, and more than that a movement, that acknowledges climate change can have differing social, economic, public health, and other adverse impacts on underprivileged populations. Advocates for climate justice are striving to have these inequities addressed head-on through long-term mitigation and adaptation strategies."

Climate justice, both a concept and a movement, recognizes the root causes of the climate crisis and acknowledges that, within the multiple phases of production and consumption processes, humans in power have exploited Earth's resources and abused the rights of at-risk and vulnerable populations. Climate justice also recognizes the historical responsibility of richer nations and seeks to broaden the scope of climate action to ensure that it addresses the key challenges of human rights and social inequality.
