Carbon footprint

Carbon footprint is the measure of gas emissions relevant in influencing climate change, such as carbon dioxide (CO2) driven by human production or consumption activities. The concept and its application have evolved to become useful in holding corporations, companies, organisations, and countries accountable for their contribution to greenhouse gas emissions. The average African household has a significantly lower carbon footprint than the average European or American household. Understanding this disparity is important in clarifying the principle of “common, but differentiated responsibility” and for ensuring that justice is served in respect to historical, current, and future loss and damages.
