Amara Phillips

Amara is a project coordinator for the Decolonizing Development project within the Economy and Society programme. Previously, she managed projects at Global Solutions Initiative in Berlin.

Amara holds dual master’s degrees in International Affairs, specializing in International Security and Global Affairs with a focus on Human Rights and Development, from the Hertie School (Berlin) and the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy (Toronto). She also earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, majoring in Ethics, Society & Law, and Political Science, with a minor in Spanish & Portuguese. While at University of Toronto, she founded the Victoria Black Student Network in 2018, leading advocacy and community efforts within the African diaspora for three years.

Fluent in French and Spanish, Amara's career is distinguished by her diverse global experience and her focus on human rights and development, focusing on the African diaspora, women, and youth.
