Privacy Statement for Applicants at APRI

Thank you for your interest in joining APRI – Africa Policy Research Institute (hereinafter: “APRI”, “we”). Protecting your personal data is important to us. This privacy statement explains how we collect, process, and protect your data during the application process in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

  1. Data Collection and Processing

During the application process, we collect and process the following personal data:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • CV (curriculum vitae)
  • Certificates and references

Your data will only be used for the purpose of processing your application and evaluating your suitability for the position you have applied for.

  1. Legal Basis

The processing of your personal data is based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) and/or on our legitimate interest in processing job applications (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

If we wish to keep your application in our talent pool or consider it for other internal job openings, we will request your explicit consent before doing so.

  1. Data Storage and Deletion

Your data will only be stored for the duration of the recruitment process and will be deleted no later than 90 days after its conclusion.

If you consent to being included in our talent pool, your data will be retained for future job opportunities within APRI.

  1. Access to Your Data

Access to your data is restricted to:

  • HR team responsible for processing applications
  • Hiring managers and decision-makers within APRI

We use HRworks for applicant management. Your data is not shared with any third parties outside our organization.

To ensure the security of your personal data, we implement access restrictions within our organization.

  1. Your Rights

As an applicant, you have the right to:

  • Request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us via email.
  • Withdraw your consent for processing at any time.
  • Lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority if you believe your data has been processed unlawfully.

Note: Once an application has been submitted, it is not possible to modify or review it.
