Dr Munira Raji is a Senior Research Fellow in Green Mineral and Energy Transition. Her work focuses on translating scientific evidence into actionable policy insights, advising on critical minerals for the clean energy transition, and developing strategies and roadmaps for mineral-rich countries pursuing green industrialisation.
Munira holds a PhD in Geological Sciences from Durham University, an MSc in Petroleum Geoscience from the University of Derby, and a BSc in Geology from the University of Portsmouth. She recently completed an MSc in Global Energy and Climate Policy at SOAS, University of London. She previously held postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Hull and Sheffield Hallam University before joining the University of Plymouth in 2022 as a Research Fellow in Sustainable Geoscience.
Munira is a member of the expert task force on just transition with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and is actively engaged in advancing science-policy dialogues on just transitions and climate diplomacy. She currently works as the Strategic Research & Science Diplomacy Lead at the Sustainable Earth Institute, University of Plymouth, where she fosters strategic international partnerships and bridges the gap between scientific research, policy-making, and diplomacy to shape sustainability research linked to intergovernmental priorities.
