Ebrima Faal has a 30-year long career in international development. His expertise includes development policy formulation and implementation, strategy and institutional effectiveness, project development, management, and implementation. He has worked in different capacities at the AfDB: Senior Director of the Nigeria regional office, Director in the Office of the First Vice President & COO, Director of Southern Africa Region, and Director Operations Committee and Quality Assurance. In these positions, he managed active portfolios of over US$5 billion and average lending programs valued between US$600 million and US$1 billion. He was responsible for developing AfDB’s new operating model and oversaw operational programs and partnerships development. Before joining the AfDB, Ebrima worked with the IMF for 18 years as a Senior Economist, IMF Resident Representative in Guyana, and the Pacific Countries. He also served as Economic Adviser to the Minister of Finance in Guyana. Ebrima obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Mount Allison University and completed his masters and doctoral studies (ABD) at McGill University.
