Katlong Alex is an energy, climate and sustainability professional with over five years of experience spanning policy research, natural resource governance, ESG integration and stakeholder engagement. His work examines the technical, economic and policy factors shaping Africa’s energy transition, critical minerals development and green industrialisation.

Before joining APRI, Katlong worked with the African Energy Council and the Africa Centre for Energy Policy. He has contributed to research and advisory assignments covering critical minerals, energy-transition policy, green hydrogen and geothermal energy. His experience also includes policy implementation research, ESG assessments and engagement with public-sector, private-sector and civil-society stakeholders.

Katlong has contributed to publications on Africa’s critical minerals, energy outlook, carbon finance and green hydrogen. His analysis has been featured in publications including Bloomberg and Gas Outlook. He is completing an MBA with a specialisation in Sustainability at Nexford University.
